No Rush

I've been reading a really lovely book titled Savor: Mindful Eating, Mindful Life per recommendation of my nutritionist.  At its root it emphasizes Buddist principles as related to mindfulness in the sense of removing distrations and living in the present.  I've been practicing slowing down, savoring moments, and wrestling with all that comes with removing distractions.

At happy hour this week I met a friend at Ray's Cafe and our table faced the Pacific ocean and we shared halibut and rockfish tacos, some drinks and the pleasure of each other's company.  On our first toast, he said, "To no rush."  How apropros I thought.

As the sun set, I wrapped up in a blanket, air still warm, his arm around me and my head on his shoulder. As I nearly fell asleep I thought, nope, I don't want to rush this.

So here's to living in the moment.
